RE: Lexington High School Graduation 2020

Graduation Information

After much consideration and weighing all options pertaining to the Class of 2020 Commencement Ceremony, a decision has been made by LISD Administration. Lexington High School graduation will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2020, at 8:30 pm. on the Eagle Football Stadium. The State of Texas and the Texas Education Agency have provided detailed requirements regarding graduation expectations which we have put into place for the safety and protection of our students, staff, family, and friends. Indoor events are expressly prohibited by the State. If the weather requires cancelation on May 23rd, the ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at 8:30 pm.
*In the event that Lee County identifies five or more active cases of COVID-19, before May 16, 2020, we will be required by the state to move graduation to May 30, 2020.

Vulnerable Populations
Since we will be live streaming the graduation event, we strongly encourage those who are considered “at risk” to watch the ceremony remotely. Information for the live stream will be sent out to the community at a later date.

Graduates Arrival
All graduates will need to park or be dropped off at the Visitor Parking lot located off HWY N 77 beside the LISD Central Offices. This area will be for graduates only. Maps and more detailed information will be provided to graduates prior to the graduation date. Parking passes will be issued for graduates. Graduates should plan to arrive after 7:00 pm and must be on site at 7:30 pm. Graduates are required to submit a health self-assessment to gain entry. The self-assessment and parking passes will be mailed to the students. Graduates will wait in their cars, observing social distancing from their peers.

Number of guests
Due to the strict state social distancing requirements mandated by the state, each graduate will be allowed six (6) guests to attend the graduation ceremony at the stadium. Tickets will be issued by mail and required for admittance at the gate. All guests are required to submit a health self-assessment to gain entry, included with the ticket. Two parking passes will be issued to the graduates for their guests. Parking passes, tickets/self assessments and programs will be mailed to the students for distribution.

Seating
Both sides of the stadium will be open for seating. Please practice social distancing guidelines. Please remain in close proximity to your immediate family and practice CDC guidelines when seated near those outside your family. Social distancing of family units by six feet is required. Guests will have to leave an empty row between seating. These rows will be marked. We will release information regarding seating arrangements prior to graduation so that you can determine the best stadium seating for your family group. Handicap seating is available.

Parking
Graduates will be issued 2 parking passes for their guests to park in the Gym/Stadium parking lot. Parking access will open at 7:30 pm. Upon arrival, guests will have to present a parking pass in order to park in this designated area. Those without parking passes will have to park in the overflow along Third Street. All parents/guests will enter through the main entrance of the stadium. Please self-monitor access to the gate observing social distancing requirements. LHS staff will be assisting with directions. Only ticket holders will be allowed to enter the stadium. All guests are required to submit a health self-assessment to gain entry, included with the ticket. Handicap parking is available for those with state issued handicap parking permits/plates.

Gathering After Ceremony
Guests will not be allowed on the field after the graduation ceremony. All guests and graduates will have to exit the stadium as soon as the ceremony concludes. LHS staff will help with directing to the exits. To prevent congestion and congregating, graduates will be released by row to their cars. The guests will be released in a similar fashion, after the graduates have exited the stadium.

Safety and Security
Lexington High School will provide medical personnel and uniformed officers at the graduation ceremony. Masks will be optional, but encouraged for guests and graduates. All graduates will be issued masks upon arrival. Restrooms will be continually monitored and cleaned throughout the night by LISD custodial staff.

Thank you to everyone for your patience during this time.

At the end of the day, we tried to make the best decisions possible for our LHS Class of 2020.
